“Head spinning,” “electrifying,” “dizzying,” and “mindboggling”—all terms that have been used to aptly describe how quickly artificial intelligence (AI) is evolving. In just two short years, we’ve gone from generative AI ( e.g., ChatGPT-like) to now Agentic AI. While many of us are still getting comfortable with (if not, wowed by) ChatGPT or Claude writing our newsletters, don’t overlook that the next big thing in AI has already arrived.
2025 is shaping up to be a transformative year of AI technology. And let’s be clear: We’re no longer talking simply about AI tools, but a radical shift is emerging in how humans engage with information.
To say that Agentic AI will revolutionize how we do business is not hyperbole—and it’s not far off in the future. A recent Gartner trend report indicated that Agentic AI will be “one of the most transformative technologies impacting the enterprise landscape over the next 24 months.” Let’s learn more about how this next generation AI can help drive your real estate business.
Autonomous AI Is Here
Agentic AI is an advanced version of AI that can think independently and has enhanced decision-making capabilities. It can complete tasks based on a goal or objective with little or no interaction from humans. It also has the ability to improve its performance over time through self-learning. Essentially, it’s an AI tool that can think, act, reason and adapt to changing circumstances—notably without any direction from us.
Agentic AI operates in four stages:
- Perception—The algorithms driving Agentic AI gather data from the world around them.
- Reasoning—The data is processed, which allows the AI system to understand what’s happening around it.
- Action—Based on that understanding, the Agentic AI tool then decides what to do.
- Learning—Over time, it learns from feedback data.
This is the arrival of AI with autonomy—and it’s going to have a profound impact on real estate and beyond. According to Gartner, “15 percent of day-day work decisions will be made autonomously by 2028.”
Previous generations of AI tools were mainly capable of pattern recognition and predictive analytics. Generative AI is reactive in that it requires prompts or inputs from humans to generate responses. The autonomous capabilities of Agentic AI up the ante by delivering proactive AI tools that don’t merely support human decision-making but actively participate in the execution of complex workflow processes.
Agentic AI is already at work in some spaces. Autonomous vehicles are equipped with AI systems that detect their surroundings, make driving decisions, obey traffic rules and learn from every trip. Supply chain management, cybersecurity and healthcare are examples of other business domains using Agentic AI effectively. Agentic AI can bring efficiency, cost savings, better decision-making, and personalization. For example, in the financial services, AI can adjust financial advice and strategies based on real-time data analysis.
Agentic AI is not without risks and challenges, though. The biggest concern is job displacement. Agentic AI is capable of taking over daily tasks in areas such as delivery, customer service and even marketing. Data privacy also should be on every real estate professional’s watch list. In a business domain filled with sensitive data, implementing AI systems that protect client data is paramount, but every innovation comes with ethics and accountability concerns. If Agentic AI makes its own decisions, who’s responsible when something goes wrong? And what safeguards can be built into and around autonomous AI systems to protect against possible errors?
What Agentic AI Can Do for Real Estate Professionals
With all that said, you might think that adopting Agentic AI in your real estate business would feel like drinking from a fire hose. But the key isn’t to take it all in at-once—it’s strategically selecting AI tools and implementing them where they can enhance your business, streamline processes, reduce errors, automate repetitive tasks, fill a gap or improve customer service.
Take property listings, for example. There are tasks associated with creating property listings that Agentic AI can seamlessly automate. It can be used to generate SEO-optimized property listing descriptions. Agentic AI can process high quality property images to ensure that they meet the specifications and standards you need to market your listing. It can automatically gather and integrate market data into listings. It can distribute property listings across multiple platforms to ensure the widest possible audience sees your listing. And it can efficiently automate the processing of property listing documentation, saving you valuable time for work that can’t be done by algorithms, such as building relationships.
There are many other ways Agentic AI can transform the day-to-day business tasks agents and brokers handle in boosting their efficiency and profits, including:
- Gathering, analyzing and integrating real-time data analytics on property values, market trends and buyer preferences.
- Automating marketing efforts by creating campaigns, determining the target audience, developing content, adjusting it based on real-time performance metrics, and managing the campaign for a defined period of time.
- Generating leads based on specific goals or objectives, scheduling meetings and answering product questions.
- Improving client experiences using AI-managed interactions for personalized communication and timely responses.
- Enhancing strategic decision-making by aligning sales, marketing and operations data.
Need any more convincing that Agentic AI can bring value to your real estate business? A McKinsey report estimates that AI tools could add more than $180 billion to the real estate domain every year, mostly by effectively and accurately managing data analysis related to property valuations, historic housing prices, market trends, likelihood of sales and optimizing client services.
Accelerating Opportunities
With the supersonic rate of innovation in AI tools flying onto the market, you might feel a sense of urgency to keep up so your business doesn’t get left behind. And if you’re going to drink from the proverbial fire hose—if you haven’t already, you probably should—sip, don’t gulp. It might actually be exciting and invigorating for you and your real estate business. After all, the goal is never to use every single innovation, but to understand technologies and strategically apply the ones that work for you.
With AI—whether generative, Agentic or every iteration still to come—your best approach will always be to explore, experiment and implement in ways that align with your business goals, expand and improve your performance, and give your real estate business a competitive edge.
